Welcome to the website of Histopathology and Cytology Society of Pakistan
HCSP is our own forum where for the first time all Histopathologists of the country will find a platform to share ideas, gain latest knowledge and learn ways to improve the training of our postgraduate students. Our Pakistani histopathologists working abroad can all be part of this society and their contribution will be of tremendous help in making it an effective and progressive body.
Histopathology is now the essential most branch of Pathology since management of the patient is deeply dependent on the pathologist’s diagnosis. Apart from the routine surgical pathology ,the sterotactic biopsies, trucut biopsies, endoscopic biopsies , gynecological cytology , image guided FNA and frozen sections serve the clinicians and patients as an essential component of diagnostic services.
A general surgical pathologist as well as a the specialty orientated histopathologist is expected to provide absolutely precise reports to clinicians for appropriate treatment. This obviously depends on the expertise of the reporting histopathologist. Histopathology is both a science and a skill learnt through consistent practice and exposure. Further, to produce a meaningful report the histopathologist has to be in touch with the latest reporting protocols and international guidelines. We also realize that all centers in the country, including many reputed medical colleges,do not have all requisite facilities available like frozen section , molecular biology techniques, immunocytochemistry and even special stains.
Realizing all these shortcomings of our setup, HCSP is hoped to provide a forum where CME activities will be given top priority. Conduction of histopathology workshops, update lectures, slide seminars, guest lectures by our foreign colleagues and various other academic activities will be organized all over the country for the benefit of trainees and the teachers. In addition our annual meeting will be a regular feature which not only will serve as a get together of all the histopathologists , but also a forum where update lectures by experts and workshops for trainees will be an essential component.
HCSP will strive with your help to raise the standard of Histopathology services in Pakistan.
HCSP ANNUAL MEETINGS
First annual conference was held at Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore
2nd annual conference was held in Nathiagali in 2011
3rd annual conference was again held in Lahore in 2012. All these events were much appreciated and thankfully received by trainees and accomplished pathologists alike.
4th annual conference of HCSP was held on 2nd November 2013, at ‘Hotel Pearl Continental’ Karachi. It was combined with 1stannual meeting of ‘International Academy of Pathology (IAP)-Pakistan Division’ which was revived last year. World president of IAP Prof Samir Amr came to Karachi to join us at this occasion.
5th annual conference was held in Lahore in 2015
6th annual conference was held in Islamabad in April 2016
